The public is invited to a reception on Saturday April 5 from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. to mix and mingle with the artists. At 7:30 p.m., awards for the winning entries will be presented. As usual, great music and food will be served for your enjoyment. Wine will be available for purchase.

Demonstration by Joyce Faulknor. Joyce will introduce her unique technique, the dark-to-light approach to painting glass and a reflective subject. In her demonstration she will be breaking down the mystery of getting the transparency of glass and a reflective surface, laying in the darkest shapes and allowing the darkest values to create the foundation for the painting. The demonstration will clearly illustrate how to capture the glossy texture of glass, the shining facets of sterling silver, the prism of light and an understanding of the distorted shapes.
Joyce Faulknor's artwork has appeared in "Splash 8" and "Splash 10" (10/09). She has written articles for Watercolor Magic, American Artist Magazine, and is the author of "Stunning Crystal and Glass" published by North Light Books, along with a DVD which is the companion to the book.
