My name is Daniela Bireley. I am a native Czech and have been residing in Livermore for past eight years.

My beginning: I started creating jewelry out of desperation. After I left my career as a dental technician and relocated from my home country Czech Republic to the USA, I no longer had outlet for my creative energy. I was fortunate to meet a girl from Prague who was a wire jewelry artist. She introduced me to an intriguing world of wire craft and instantly, I was caught up. But this didn’t happen without a sore beginning. I spent a lot of time trying to coax the wire into what I wanted to and often found myself frustrated with sore hands and fingers. Eventually after a few years the wire relaxed into jewelry that I was willing to wear, and later into jewelry I was proud to wear.

Current focus: I am inspired by the craft itself. Sometimes I just pick up a piece of wire and start to bend it with my pliers or get suddenly caught by color or shape of a gemstone that had found a way into my hands. I love to go to gemstone and mineral fairs where I can touch and carefully pick each piece myself. Although I prefer to work with gemstones, I like to use crystals and Czech glass beads as well. As for the wire, I have been exclusively working with medical stainless steel wire imported from Czech Republic that is certified hypoallergenic. Although medical stainless steel is a bit more challenging to work with, I appreciate it doesn’t tarnish and it’s very durable. Majority of my jewelry components including ear wires, clasps, and findings are hand-crafted. To embellish my jewelry I utilize various crocheting and weaving techniques that make each individual piece very unique and exceptional.

Creating wire jewelry has become my love, passion, and my true way to unwind. I hope you will enjoy my jewelry as much as I do.
