I am a retired environmental scientist and I have resided in Livermore for over 35 years. I was raised in Lafayette, CA, and have lived in the San Francisco Bay Area all my life. I got my first real camera while I was serving a tour of duty in Vietnam in1967 and I have been pushing the shutter button ever since.

My photography interests tend toward natural or old subjects. I enjoy the range of detail, shape, color, light, and textures these subjects offer. I think the camera can capture the blend of these qualities better than any other media. Although digital photography allows further post-processing of images, I prefer to keep images as close to my original perception as possible. I often will convert my images to black and white if it helps communicate a particular mood or interesting quality of the subject.

My other interests include astronomy, including astrophotography, woodworking, fly-fishing, and fast sports cars.
