Artists Enlivens the British Museum |
Gina Kaiper is a Pleasanton artist and photographer. Her
work connects contemporary experience with the rich
tradition of art through the centuries. For many years she
has photographed in the United States and Europe,
especially in art museums, and these photos often serve as
a point of departure for her oil paintings.
Gina enjoys painting people in all their wonderful
diversity, and one of her favorite themes is people in a
museum context. Some of the people encountered there are
providing security or maintenance. Some are looking at—or
perhaps ignoring—works of art. Some are carved of marble,
cast in bronze, or painted on canvas. In developing these
paintings, she tries to develop a deeper understanding of
each artist whose work is depicted, and she also imagines
stories about the modern people who appear in her art.
Gina exhibits in the San Francisco East Bay Area, has won
awards for paintings and photographs, and is affiliated
with the Achenbach Graphic Arts Council, the Alamo
Danville Artists’ Society, the Las Positas College Art
Club, the Livermore Art Association, and the Pleasanton
Art League. She has studied painting, drawing, and art
history at Las Positas College.
