My current work is mixed media painting using found images and paint. Each image is a stepping stone to different parts of my mental garden. When I begin a painting I have an idea or strong emotion in mind that I want to articulate on canvas. Some of my favorite images keep showing up in paintings regularly such as butterflies, birds, lace, old sheet music and flowers.

I want the viewer to be rewarded for looking up close at the painting as well as from a distance. I like layers on layers of images and some parts are obscured by paint or textures. I ask myself 'what if' quite often as I work and I enjoy being surprised by an unexpected result from tearing off an image, adding another, glazing on paint, and scraping on texture.

Medium includes acrylic paint, watercolor, found images, photographs, oil pastel, colored pencil, and charcoal.
