Suzanne Crosthwait |
A native of Texas, Suzanne received a Bachelors of Fine
Art with a concentration in Drawing and Painting from the
University of North Texas in 1976. At a time when most art
majors were painting in acrylics, Suzanne was fascinated
by wet-on-wet watercolors and was the first at UNT to
receive the majority of her painting credits in
watercolor. Her early watercolors were large, bright, and
almost abstract as they took advantage of the qualities
unique to watercolor.
Over the years Suzanne’s work has become more controlled,
but she continues to use the wet-on-wet technique in
smaller, confined spaces. Suzanne’s love of her subject
matter is evident in her watercolors of flowers and cats;
and her use of pure, clean colors evoke a joyful feeling.
Suzanne moved California in 1988 and to San Ramon in 2003.
She is currently a member of the California Watercolor
Association, the Livermore Art Association, and the Alamo
Danville Artists Society; and participates annually in the
Marin Art Festival in San Rafael and Art in the Gardens at
the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens, along with a few
local art shows.
