Angela Johal is a native Californian, award-winning artist and art instructor, and lives in the Livermore Valley with her family. Angela's abstract compositions in oil bring to the viewer close-up, photographic views of animals, butterflies, bark, reflections, gemstones, and flowers. 

Her figurative works spring from her love for the post-impressionist's use of strong outlines, vivid color, underlying order, and decorative surface treatment. Her figures are realistically painted, yet exist in an imagined space.

Angela believes that the longer you look at a subject the more abstract it becomes, which makes it more real.  So it is this antithesis between what is abstract and what is real that intrigues her, and perhaps a desire to bring these two worlds together, which is her primary goal.
